September: Australia's Colombo Plan Scholars, an Asia focus and Awards season fast approaching

September

With the October Advance Awards fast approaching, it is time to let the world know which ten extraordinary Australians have been selected as category winners. All winners have been recognised for their outstanding contributions on the world stage with achievements in diverse fields.

Advance had a busy month in Asia, with our Asia based Advance team meeting with some of Australia's New Colombo Plan Scholars in Hong Kong and holding a #BornGlobal Salon in Singapore and Hong Kong.

It was a fascinating discussion on global developments in AI and technology at the #BornGlobal Salon in Singapore on 21 Sep with special guests Si Chen, Senior Strategy Manager for Tencent AI Lab & Aliza Knox, Head of Cloudflare APAC. Advance wants to give a special thanks to Australian High Commission Singapore for their support of the event. Read the wrap up here.

Advance was elated to have 2018 Advance Award winner in Food and Agriculture Dalene Wray, Managing Director of OBE Organic, support our #BornGlobal Salon in Hong Kong. Award-winning Australian journalist Sarah Clarke led an engaging and interesting discussion with Dalene who shared her international experience and insights on Australian business overseas, technology and innovation in the global food industry. Read the wrap up here.

It was great to see Global CEO, Serafina Maiorano, representing Advance during consultations to build a stronger Nation Brand for Australia which followed the 2017 Foreign Policy White Paper commitment to build Australia’s soft power globally.

This month the Advance community were transported to Paris through our Born Global e-series. Check out the incredible global Aussies who share their insights and stories about living and working the city here.
