It has been a dynamic start to 2018 for Advance, with some very exciting developments in the global team. We were delighted to welcome Yasmin Allen as our new Chairman of the Board of Directors and Emma Rugge-Price as our CEO for Australia.
February also welcomed the start of the new Lunar Year – we wished all our connections in Asia a happy and prosperous Year of the Dog. To oversee all our work in Asia is our Advance team member and Asia director, Stefanie Myers. We are lucky to have Stefanie as part of our global team.
Our February calendar was full with bespoke Advance events, enabling connectivity amongst our members all over the world.
The second Born Global Salon for the year was held in New York with special guest, Jeremy Balkin, Head of Innovation at HSBC and 2017 Advance Global Australian Award winner. With an incredible view of the East River, the Advance community gathered at the Australian Consul General’s residence to meet with other Born Global leaders and listen to a fire side chat with Jeremy, led by Bloomberg’s Ramy Inocencio. It was a pleasure to hear about what drives and inspires Jeremy, ethics, good business and how all of that can inspire us, as millennials.
Our Cheers & Chill series kicked off in true Sydney style at The Beresford Hotel where the Advance community, both local and international, caught up to chew the fat with some fellow Aussies over a few drinks.
The Australian Consulate-General New York hosted the first Australian Alumni Reception in Philadelphia. The Advance community attended to network with fellow global Australians and hear keynote speaker Dean Geoffrey Garrett of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and Consul-General Alastair Walton speak.
As always, a new month means a new city! In February’s Born Global, we took members to Tokyo and interviewed a diverse range of people, check out their stories here.
